Safintra Rwanda Limited, a member of the Safal Group has partnered with Engineers Without Borders from Santa Clara University (EWB-SCU)in the United Stated of America (USA) to facilitate the transportation of water for home use in Nyange sector of Ngororero district, Western Province.
Safintra manufactured a motorized cart designed by (EWB-SCU), painted, and branded it before it was handed over to the university’s engineers on 50% discount. After receiving the cart, Santa Clara University – Engineers Without Borders continued their voluntary project of helping Nyange residents to transport water from fountains to their homes.
The cart has the capacity of carrying six jerry cans which is a significant contribution facilitating to water transportation especially to residents from rural areas fetching water from far distant fountains. Health centers, schools, trading companies and all the population in Rwanda are expected to have 100% access to water within seven years as planned in the National Strategy for Transformation (NST 1) 2017 – 2024.
