Yego Innovision, the provider of Yegomoto and YegoCab technologies has added to their tech features, an Andriod app that will allow passengers to effortlessly book a taxi as and when required. The App has been developed and designed in Rwanda, keeping in view the requirements for the rest of Africa.
The Yego App features multilingual support for Kinyarwanda, English, Swahili and French and A Trip Start Code (TSC) that ensures you get into the right cab. The payment will be conducted via MTN Mobile Money or cash basing on the distance covered reflected in the meter.
During a press conference at the Yego Innovison Ltd offices, Yego Founder and CEO Karanvir Singh revealed that the app has been in a beta test phase for the last 6months.
“The App required us to get key service providers like Taxi drivers, to be trained on how to use the App. The taxi drivers have been traditionally accustomed to navigating based on landmarks and it has been our endeavor to encourage them to use maps.”
The App also has a safe security feature that allows a passenger to alert five designated family members or friends by sending them a live pin location that continues to show where the passenger is as he/she is being driven.
Commenting about the taxi fleet on the platform, Karanvir said; “We currently have 1,319 Taxi cabs on our platform; unfortunately most of them are over 25 years old. These vehicles are in poor condition and breakdown frequently.
“Our platform builds credit scores for the drivers and we are currently in discussions with financial institutions like Bank of Kigali, Equity and I&M Bank and vehicle companies like Toyota, Suzuki and Renault to replace the old fleet of taxis with brand new cars.“
Commenting on Yego’s innovation, Principle Engineer in charge of transport planning and industrial development at RURA, Emmanuel Katabarwa said that, RURA is in full support of Yego’s commitment to its customers by adding another convenient option to move anywhere within the city with a world class level of quality transport services.”
Signh revealed that the i0S iPhone version is currently under development and is intended to launch in December 2019.
“In November 2019, we will be launching ‘Corporate Accounts’ that will allow companies and organizations to streamline the transport requirements for their employees,” added Sigh.
In September 2018, Yego launched YEGOCABS, a metered ride platform with regulated fares bringing an end to the needless haggling. Yego went on a launch 9191, a 24/7 call centre that you could call to get a Taxi without requiring a smart phone, app, internet date or even Airtime.
