On Thursday, December 5th, 2019, MTN Rwanda announced Rwanda’s biggest and first-ever cashless Music Festival dubbed ‘Sawa Sawa Music Festival’ that will last for 3 days and host International and local artists as well as a lineup of Djs to entertain the revelers.
MTN Rwanda aims at crushing the traditional marketing strategies and will be collaborating with users during the ideation phase of the festival. Users and popular social media influencers will determine which international and local artists they want to see, what venue they want the festival to take place, which DJs they want to have, which MCs and so on.
Richard Acheampong, MTN Rwanda Chief Marketing Officer says they thought of this festival as a more creative way to reach their target audience and engage with their customers throughout the process. “We want to create an event that will naturally reflect the vibe and spirit of our customers. We expect this festival to attract different segments of our customers but more especially the youth and we will achieve this by using user-created content and engaging with our customers to find out what they truly want this festival to look like.”
He added that MTN Rwanda wants to create a seamless experience with cashless payments and contribute to Rwanda’s agenda of creating a cashless economy. All purchases during the festival will be made using Mobile Money or MoMo Pay on Android or iOS devices.
Last but not least, MTN Rwanda will be promoting local talents and business owners since there will be talent shows and vendors, the likes of artisan food trucks and beverage companies that will have a platform to market their products.
