The value of remittances and remittance services globally continues to rise. To meet the need for faster, simpler and lower cost money transfer options, KCB Bank Rwanda has partnered with WorldRemit to enable Rwandans to receive money from 150 countries worldwide.
WorldRemit is a leading digital money transfer company based in the United Kingdom. The company saves its customers time and money as they do not need to travel to a brick and mortar agent and pay expensive fees to send money abroad.
The partnership with KCB adds several new locations to WorldRemit’s cash pickup network in Rwanda.
Talking to Hope Magazine, Money Transfer Services Manger KCB Bank Rwanda, Yvonne Rugina explained that the partnership allows a person living abroad to send money to Rwanda for collection as cash in just a few taps of their smartphone:
“Whether you receive money from abroad frequently, or simply need to receive a one-time international transaction, our service with WorldRemit is a quick, fast and low-cost way to receive funds.
“Because transactions are instant, we advise customers to be very careful and meticulous while providing their recipients details, including full name and phone number. Receivers should bring a valid photo ID and their transaction reference, which will be sent to them via SMS, to collect their cash at KCB branches. “
Olivier Mugabonake, Country Manager for Rwanda at WorldRemit, said WorldRemit is delighted to partner with KCB to expand its cash pickup service in Rwanda.
“The new service supports financial inclusion initiatives in the country, as recipients of WorldRemit cash pickup transfers do not need to have access to a bank account to collect their funds. What’s more, we offer both senders and receivers notifications when a transfer has been sent and the money is ready for collection, to ensure there are no wasted journeys to collect the cash” he added.
Through its network of partners, WorldRemit also offers mobile money and airtime top-up money transfer services to Rwanda. The company’s customer service team is available 24/7 if customers need any help with their transfers.
