Following the launch of Biashara Club in August 2019, KCB Bank Rwanda Plc has organized workshops in different provinces to enhance business growth for its esteemed Biashara Club members.
In August 2019, the bank launched the KCB Biashara Club, a business club for its SME customers established to grow and strengthen customer relationships while providing additional value propositions.
Over 200 entrepreneurs of the Bank’s Micro, Small, and Middle Enterprise businesses in different sectors including manufacturing, tourism and construction, gathered at Kigali Serena Hotel for a workshop on corporate governance and business succession.
Speaking to the business club members, Prof. Karuranga Egide, Vice Chancellor at University of Kibungo discussed the different aspects of corporate governance in various disciplines while highlighting specific details on family businesses.
“Business culture starts in the family. It starts with identifying the potential and talents your close family members have and nurturing that raw talent into a resourceful asset to your business and eventually to the entire community,” said Prof. Karurunga.
Other business concepts discussed were organizational designs, code of ethics, business layers and tools, legal and fiscal implications with case studies from Africa, USA and Canada.
Participants asked various questions on how to manage costs, price settings, taxation and how to add value to their already existing businesses. The club members also discussed the upcoming regional and international business trips and the preferential pricing that the Bank will be offering the club members for such trips as part of the benefits of the KCB Biashara Club.
The Head of Retail Banking at KCB Bank Rwanda, Innocent Ntwali, noted that the bank’s SME customers and business partners are pivotal to the Bank’s strategic mission which is to enable the economic and financial progress of all customers.
“Workshops and trainings such as these are intended to enhance business growth at different levels,” he considered.
One of the participants and member of Biashara Club, Murera Martias who owns a One Stock shop, said that the workshop and the membership have been very helpful in understanding the dynamics of managing a business in areas of marketing and communication.
“Apart from having access to such a phenomenal and educative workshop, I get to experience a preferential pricing on selected bank services, access to Biashara Club newsletters on market trends and a designed SME business management toolkit for reference.
KCB Bank Rwanda in the near future will hold the next Biashara Club workshop in Huye District in the Southern Province and in Rubavu district, Northern Province.
