DHL Express Rwanda saw its staff emerge victorious in last month’s football and cheer leading competition held in Nairobi, Kenya, beating all other DHL teams from around the region.
Speaking after touching down at the Kigali International Airport from Nairobi, a jovial DHL Express Rwanda Country Manager, Julie Mutoni attributed the success to her staffs’ commitment in training for the competition and out-doing themselves during the games.
“Last year, we were second runners up in the Nairobi-held competitions so this year, we started training months before to get ready for the competition and worked very hard in the games, which I believe enabled us to become the first,” she said.
Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL Group), the world’s leading mail and logistics service provider organises the competitions among the firm’s subsidiary operations in every continent with the continental finalists meeting in a grand finale that will be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates at the end of this month.
The DHL Express Rwanda teams, as finalists from East Africa, will face other finalists from West Africa and Asia.
Mutoni said the competitions were a way of motivating their staff, showing them there is more to leading a career in DHL Express Rwanda than working all the time.
“When the staffs travel to these countries to participate in these competitions they get the chance to unwind, relax, shop for their families and learn how things are done in those countries,” she noted.
She affirmed DHL Express Rwanda’s commitment in creating the best environment for its staff to serve its customers diligently with the annual sports competition part of the many staff motivators the company has in place.
Last month, during the annual customer service week, DHL Express Rwanda also recognised its most diligent staff, taking time off to celebrate their work, which continues to grow DHL Express Rwanda’s customer loyalty base.
“At DHL Express Rwanda, we really appreciate our staff because they are the face of the company. They always strive to serve customers to the best of their abilities and this competition served as a thank you to them, urging them to keep on going,” she explained.
