The US Embassy in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) will launch a new reading campaign dubbed \”Everybody Reads Rwanda\” on April 4, 2012 at the US Embassy Information Resource Center (IRC), in Kacyiru, Kigali city.

The campaign will be officially launched by U.S. Ambassador Donald Koran and Minister of Education Dr. Biruta Vincent.

The campaign is organized in support of ongoing efforts to create a culture of reading in Rwanda. The goal of ‘Everybody Reads Rwanda’ is to get as many people as possible reading and discussing the same book, according Mr. Amani Athar, the embassy’s communication specialist.

Lecturers, media professionals, students and members of the public will come together for discussions and debates in May 2012. The themes of discussion are extracted from the book “A Lesson before Dying” by African-American author Ernest Gaines, the book selected for this reading campaign.

The campaign events will continue throughout the month of May.
