Students undertaking science courses at Ngoma District- based Lycee de Zaza secondary school enjoyed a trip to Rwanda Foam’s world-class factory located at the Prime Economic Zones, Gasabo District last month.
The group of students, totalling 98 in number had the chance to watch and learn how mattresses, of all sizes and qualities are manufactured by Rwanda’s number one mattress maker.
“Since its inception in 1981, Rwanda Foam has been committed to providing Rwanda and its neighbours better quality foam mattresses and other beddings such as pillows and cushions for chairs and benches,” explained Christian Karekezi, the Head of Marketing at Rwanda Foam to the students during their one-day visit.
Mr. Karekezi noted, after the tour, that it will help them become better informed of their career decisions if they are to become industrialists in the future.
“We have explained to the students who have seen what Rwanda Foam is, the kind of mattresses they sleep on and how our mattresses are different from the rest in terms of quality,” he explained.
He added that they are always open to students who visit the factory because it gives the students a chance to learn in practise the chemical formulae they learn in theory in their classrooms.
Sister Marie Liberata, the Head of Discipline at the Catholic school was in agreement with Mr. Karekezi, noting that it was highly important for the students to take advantage of such trips to learn as much as they can of how a company like Rwanda Foam works.
