Rwanda and South Korea discuss increased bilateral cooperation
Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Louise Mushikiwabo received her Korean counterpart Kim Sung Hwan. The talks focused on the relationship and cooperation between both countries.
In her opening remarks, Minister Mushikiwabo said that South Korea is a close friend and a model for developing countries.
“Your visit is a sign of friendship which shows that Korea is a true partner and friend of Rwanda. The 50 years of diplomatic relations between our two countries have had significant impact on the lives of Rwandans, especially in infrastructure, ICT, education and agriculture”.
Kim Sung Hwan commended Rwanda’s achievements. “Rwanda is a priority partner. We will continue our cooperation investing more in ICT, agriculture and capacity building and encouraging Korean companies to invest more in Rwanda” he said.
Rwanda and South Korea have signed many agreements on economy, scientific and technical cooperation and voluntarism.
The conversation also focused on mutual understanding at the United Nations Security Council where both countries are currently sitting as non-permanent members for the 2013/2014 term.
