The construction sector in Rwanda has been a true reflection of the country’s economic growth especially in the past one decade, featuring enormous structures and in big numbers unseen before rising from every corner of the country. But the growth in the sector has not come lightly, considering the high cost of construction materials and their meager supply in the Rwandan market. Such commodities which are crucial in modern constructions include ceramic products like tiles.
To satisfy the demand in the Rwandan market, first there is need for reliable steady supply followed by quality assurance. The first element of the demand for ceramic construction products attracted an influx of commodities from across the world in the past, which in their way served the need for increased supply needless to underline the substandard commodities that dominated the imports. Thus quality was never assured but not just for Rwandan consumers, it was an East and Central Africa regional challenge to construction sectors.

“As a company, we have over 2000 designs of ceramic products used in construction with a plant that produces tens of thousands of square meters of tiles every year. All this is what we aspire to bring to Rwanda in the near future at the most affordable prices,” he shared. Currently, RAK Ceramics has set up a showroom precisely on the building next to the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda so as to offload Rwandans of the troubles of traveling overseas to access ceramic products manufacturers.
“At our showroom in Kigali, one can order for anything they want and in whatever quantities. Also you can order for samples to select from and we will transport them from our plants for you at no cost such that you can make an order that resonates with the type of construction you are working on.”
