Minutes past 2pm musician King James, Airtel Rwanda’s ambassador broke the good news to Afisa Mukarugema from Musanze, about her win of a luxurious 2 storey house in Kabuga’s Real Estate. The house is a grand prize from Airtel’s Birahebuje promotion, which ended today.
“Up to now I can’t believe my ears, is it really true, really aren’t you joking, I can’t believe. this is astonishing,” the winner responded overwhelmingly to King James phone call.
Birahebuje promotion which lasted for three months, aimed at rewarding Airtel clients with different prizes which were worn weekly. The gifts included; cattle, computer laptops, shopping vouchers at Nakumatt as well as airtime. An entry to the competition required one to recharge their phone with Airtel airtime.
On 2nd June, Mukarugema will officially receive the keys to her 4 bedroom house which is self-contained to modern standards. The house is valued at Rwf 70 million.
During the promotion which was started on 1st January, 115 winners received gifts worth Rwf 110 million. According to a press statement, “the prizes were not enablers to successful empowerment, but also richly symbolic to the Rwandan culture.”
On his part Marcellin Paluku, Airtel’s country director commended the promotion as a success. “It has been amazing to get winners from across the country, because it shows that Airtel’s reach and promotion transparency.
