Rwandans can now enjoy quality affordable milk, thanks to milk zones which have been introduced by Inyange industries, which is also Rwanda’s premier Agro-processing company.
During an event to launch the milk zone at Remera’s Kabeza area, Inyange’s managing director Sudadi Kayitana highlighted that the milk zones will improve the product portfolio and meet consumer demands for fresh milk, which is in line with the company’s ambitions.
Among the unique services at the milk zones include 24 hour opening, lower prices whereby a liter of milk for instance will cost Rwf400 amongst others. The milk zone will also sell other Inyange products, milk products for example include fresh milk 500ml, 1L, 2L, 3L, Tetrapack, Curd Milk (Ikivuguto) in 2L, Yoghurts 130ml, 250 ml, 400ml, Fresh Cream amongst others.
Currently, active milk zones are located in Remera, Kabeza, Nyabugogo, Nyamirambo and Kimironko.”We’re targeting 10 milk zones in the city and at least one in each province. By the end of June, we hope to have introduced the milk zones in most of these selected areas,” he said. .
In his remarks, Ernest Ruzindaza, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), commended the company’s efforts of professionalizing the milk industry.
“Inyange has motivated farmers who sell their milk through their various milk collection centers, a fact that has led to value addition in the industry,” he further added, “We’re even glad that our milk through Inyange is also sold outside the country a fact that has led to recognition of our dairy products.”
