The WorkForce Development Authority in conjunction with Rwanda Arts Initiative have organised a one day symposium on business opportunities in the arts market. The one-day meeting was to carry out an assessment of skills development and training in art industry as a strategic sector to diversify economy.
New job opportunities will contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
Minister of Education Harebamungu Mathias who was the guest of honor at this event said:
“The Government of Rwanda is presently involved in the process of developing Sector Strategies to implement Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy II (EDPRS II) programs.”
“As stated in the Country’s Vision 2020, one of the identified development pillars is Human Resource Development (HRD). The importance of this Pillar is embedded in the empowerment of individuals through skills development,” he said
Michel Saba an expert from Burkinafaso explained how Arts can transform Rwanda’s economy as any other sector. Referring to his country, Saba told participants that a professionalized art industry offers sustainable job creation and chances to fit global heights.
