Despite that voice services are still of a vital role in the communication needs of the people of Rwanda and Africa at large, the trend is continuously changing with the customers for telecom companies demanding more of data and Mobile financial services.
Indeed voice will continue to be on high demand for a reasonable period but following the trends in other developed markets, the demand will only last for as long as the infrastructure for data and other services are not fully fledged. There is increased communication through social pages and other forms of platforms that have been developed in the world’s recent history.
Thus answering the call and need of the Rwandan clients of advancing to a more digital lifestyle is considered an important part for Tigo’s telecommunication operations in the country, according to the company’s Chief Commercial Officer Mr. Tongai Maramba. “We understand the needs of the people and we can promise that we are well positioned to give the Rwandan market that which it deserves.”
Proving the above is Tigo’s stand at the 16th Rwanda International Trade Fair at the expo grounds in Gikondo in Kigali. On display the company is having a big number of smart phones on offer at relatively lowered prices as a way of enticing Rwandans to enjoy the internet era and partake in its role in alleviating poverty and improving living standards.
Besides the smart phones, the first exhibitor to complete construction of its stand in this year’s Expo, Tigo is offering a free Wi-fi wires network which can be accessed on the entire expo grounds. Whenever one is in the expo, they will be able to enjoy a free wireless internet connection courtesy of Tigo throughout the expo period from the July 24th to August 8th.
“We want our customers to come and taste the world of free internet and the quality of connection that Tigo has to offer. And it will not end just with the Expo but our customers will continue to enjoy our 3G network all through,” Maramba offered.
A day before the official launch of the Expo in Kigali, Rwandans were already beginning to taste the delicacies at the Tigo stand and prizes were being scoped by the lucky ones.
Eric Songa a Tigo customer went home with a brand new Blackberry after a random selection from cast cards by other customers was done from which he emerged the lucky winner, and joy lit his entire face. “I am very thrilled and happy, I had no idea I would go home today carrying a brand new blackberry, thanks to Tigo indeed you are meant to keep us smiling.”
According to the Tigo management, a lot more winning will be happening during the weekends for the entire expo time.
Also Tigo clients will be able to walk to the expo stand in Gikondo and have their SIM cards registered considering that unregistered cards will be cut off the network by the end of the month.
Additively the Tigo-matic machine is also available at the expo where clients can serve themselves with withdraws from Tigocash, SIM swaps and buy electronic airtime.
The future is already; stop holding yourself back and enjoy it. For instance, there is no need to carry cash to the expo this year, visit the Tigo stand and withdraw money from your Tigocash account to enjoy shopping in the 16th RITF.
