Equity Bank Rwanda has launched a new product, EazzyPay, on the market enabling customers to pay for goods and services within 24 hours to different merchants free of charges.
Eazzypay is one of Eazzy banking products that is currently available on the market, providing an easy, comprehensive, and secure banking experience for Rwandans.
EazzyPay is a merchant-based application for payment of goods and services using mobile phones.
It is an interoperable payment platform which allows one to pay for bills and those with accounts with Equity Bank to pay for goods and services easily and conveniently using a mobile device at registered Eazzypay merchant outlets ( eg: Local Markets, supermarkets, local shops, malls, petrol stations, among others).
The Eazzybanking platform also allows individuals to open virtual accounts instantly by themselves. This self on-boarding service is called “akokanya”.
Accounts can also be opened at any of the Equity Bank’s Agents across the country and instantly become operational.The launch of EazzyPay coincided with the kick off with a 3month marketing campaign to create awareness, visibility and adaptation of this product, meant to provide convenience to the daily financial lives of the public.
During the campaign, users of EazzyPay will walk away with different awards and prizes including 12 brand new motorcycles, 12 large size televisions, 12 smart phones and a grand finale cash prize of Rwf 2.5 million depending on transactions made.
The bank has also hired external qualified professionals to ensure transparent selection of winners.
Speaking during the press conference, Equity Bank Rwanda Managing Director, Hannington Namara said that the launch of Eazzypay is testimony of the bank’s efforts to further the government’s agenda of creating cashless economy and promote digital transactions.
“The EazzyPay we are launching today is the first of many and our continued commitment to serving our affluent customers by widening our portfolio through innovative and excellent products and services. It is the beginning of many solutions we are bringing to the market,” he said.
He explained that it has push and pull system where a customer can easily transact with his account transferring funds to mobile wallet or other bank accounts and the Bank will upgrade to enable integration with payments of Irembo.
“We want the bank to be with you everywhere you are, enjoying easy banking, internet banking (for businesses), easy net (for individuals), easy app and USSD code for feature phones,” he noted.
Equity Bank has 600,000 customers of who 350,000 are individuals.
So far, 3600 merchants have been registered under the system.
The merchants will enjoy 6 months before 0.5% charges per transaction apply.
EazzyPay can also be accessed through Equity Bank app or dialing *555# and follow instructions.
To avoid charlatans, Equity Bank has set 0732044372 as the official line for communication to winners.
