Traffic Police has embraced e-policing as a way to offer better services and so far the public is benefiting from the initiative.
Today, registration for temporary driving license test is conducted on phone through an SMS system. This move has helped many driving license seekers to register easily without having to move from one place to the other or encountering any costs as was the case before.
It has also reduced the error margin on the side of Police since registration is done electronically.
Traffic Police has further eased doing traffic tests by providing online temporary driving license exams. It has established three centers where license seekers can sit for the online exam.
According to Chief Superintendent (CSP) Celestin Twahirwa, the Traffic Police commanding officer, e-policing has improved service delivery and ensured that seekers know their results in time.
“As the number of driving license candidates increases e-policing helps them to register, sit for tests and get the results much faster and easier,” CSP Twahirwa said.
He noted that e-policing has equally eased the burden on traffic Police officers as it requires a few police officers to manage the online registration leaving others to take on other important Traffic Police responsibilities.
He called on those seeking Traffic Police services to use e-policing as it the easiest way to access services while the security of their data and files is guaranteed.
At the moment the Traffic Police Unit is in the process of increasing the e-capacity to ensure that other services are brought on board while more people receive quick service
