DVM S Air Conditioner for healthier natural air

Published

At the System Air Conditioner (AC) Conference in Kigali on April 3rd which brought together engineering consultants, architects and contractors from across the region, Samsung and its Rwandan distributor Akagera Electronics unveiled the latest technology innovation in air conditioning, Digital Variable Multi System (DVM S), which is said to be a ground breaker in air conditioning larger buildings.

The DVM S utilizes the latest technology in the air conditioning industry globally and represents Samsung’s 3rd generation ACs which allows the use of a single central outdoor system running as many as 64 indoor installations. This is supported by an outstanding duct network ability which can cover longer distances compared to conventional Air Conditioners.

Samsung’s innovation comes handy as Rwanda and the region’s construction industry are embarking on constructing larger and taller buildings taking East African cities into yet another generation of growth.
Considering Rwanda, Kigali City Master Plan the blue print for developing an iconic city in Africa emphasizes strongly on efficient land use preferring vertical elongations in construction over horizontal largeness.

With such a vision, air conditioning in such enormously large buildings becomes formidable as the they are more fragile with a lot of glasses utilized making numerous outdoor systems inapplicable and thus need for more advanced technology to move parallel with the development in the nature of construction. DVM S comes to meet this particular need.

Besides easing air conditioning of big buildings, numerous aspects of the DVM S present it as the right technology for the Rwandan and East African market needs including among others the energy efficient model in which the product was designed.

It can automatically respond to subtle indoor load changes since it is fitted with a Dual Smart Inverter and in so doing allows cutting output capacity similarly. This provides for efficient consumption of electricity.

Expounding on energy efficiency, Aloys Kanamugire the Project Manager for Air conditioning at Akagera Electronics intimated insights acquired in a study that his team conducted on an ongoing construction site in Kigali comparing the operations of the DVM S and conventional ACs (36,000 and 24,000 BTU Cassettes respectively).

Considering that each of the AC systems were subjected to equal working time of 8hours each day, annul energy consumption would be at Frw12.3 million for DVM S, while the conventional systems consumed 22.9m and 19.5m respectively.

For a long term use system, — operational costs should be a major consideration since they determine the experience the user will have. Oftentimes, Air Conditioning systems operate for over 15 years.
Also owing to the high-technology used in the construction of the DVM S, the system is highly digitalized to facilitate remote management even while off site.

For instance all installed systems can be monitored and diagnosed by Akagera Electronics, needless for the user to hire technicians spending time to go through the building’s installations to establish fault. This is yet another opportunity to cut on the long term maintenance costs.

According to Akagera Business Group’s President and Managing Director Mr. Vinay Gorajia, the new Samsung DVM S Air Conditioner showcases the electronics company’s ability to innovatively use technology in easing life and improvimg energy efficiency through its ability to cater for all types of buildings especially the larger ones which at times present a bigger challenge to engineers.

“We are glad to bring this technology in Rwanda and to work with everyone to ensure that the good it presents benefits our construction industry and yields maximum growth. We are always open to receive your needs and work with you to address them,” Gorajia noted.
Improved and healthier air

But as the new system responds to the current needs of air conditioning larger buildings bringing onboard an AC with the largest strength 22HP, the quality and health of the air pumped through the system remains of highest quality.

DVM S is fitted with the World’s latest air filtration system which cleans and maintains the right balance of all elements in natural air while at the same time cooling it as required.

According to George Muite Kebaso the Manager of System AC, Air Condition at Samsung Electronics East Africa Ltd, the DVM System features a four way filtration mechanism.

The first section extracts dust from the air, the second being a Virus Doctor which purifies the subsequent air of disease causing microbes like the HN1 Flu Virus, while the third and fourth systems of the filtration mechanism are built to kill all living organisms that may exist in fresh air and in so doing preventing any odors that may cause discomfort to the end user.

Besides, the filtration system is in such a way that a right balance of humidity is retained in the resulting air, avoiding the skin, eyes and body cavity drying effect of most conventional air conditioners. This is as a result of over compressed air which becomes too dry for the respiratory system.

“Perhaps you have realized that most conventional AC’s cause a nauseating effect after being exposed to their air for a long time or even you tend to feel sleepy. All this results from over compressing air during the cooling part hence making it too dry for the respiratory system with breathe losing the natural feel,” Mr. Kebaso offered.

Equally worth noting is the DVM S’ ability to cut noise at night owing to its automatic detection and response to indoor and outdoor load changes. As the night gets cooler, the AC cuts on operation and so to the resultant noise allowing a quite but at the same time cool sleeping environment.
Perhaps the right way to put it is that DVM S has come to revolve the way conventional air conditioning is seen, allowing relatively more natural air even in the very depth of buildings.
