Annual Development Partners Meeting Takes Place March 29-30
The 8th Development Partner Meeting (DPM) organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (MINECOFIN) kicks off March 29 in Gisenyi and will end Friday March 30, 2012
The DPM, held annually, is a high-level meeting aimed at bringing together stakeholders, mainly representatives of donor institutions operating in Rwanda, who have activities that contribute to the country’s development.
The meeting aims to review and discuss progress on how development partners coordinate with government.
Agenda of the meeting is on how to harmonize certain programs as a way to improve the effectiveness of development partner activities and programs in Rwanda.
In a telephone interview with Hope Magazine today, the Finance Minister, John Rwangombwa confirmed that the meeting will focus on aid effectiveness and elaboration of the second version of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS II).
“This year’s DPM provides great opportunity to review and discuss progress in development activities and partnership in light of the on-going review exercise of the EDPRS and the development of the next generation of EDPRS,” reads the statement from MINECOFIN.
The DPM will be attended by top government officials, Multilateral and Bilateral Development Partner Agencies and Missions, the Private Sector, as well as International and National NGOs.
