UAE Exchange Rwanda reaches out to Ndera patients

UAE Exchange Rwanda’s country director Riyaz Naghoor hands over some of the foodstuff to an official of Ndera hospital.

A delegation of UAE Exchange has visited Ndera Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital to reach out to patients, who mostly suffer from mental illnesses. The gesture is part of the firm’s celebration of 37 years of operations, held in all its global branches.

In Rwanda, the forex and money transfer company has been in operation for 7 years.

“We are experiencing tremendous growth, and we have 5 branches in the city; that’s why we believe in giving back to society by assisting those who are vulnerable,” said UAE Exchange Rwanda’s country director Riyaz Naghoor.

“Giving back to the society is part of the company’s old tradition and we are looking for other ways to offer our support,” added Innocent Manzi, the firm’s associate business development manager.

The staff donated food stuff worth Rwf 500,000 to Ndera hospital, and also talked to some of the patients.

“We face challenges with patients who are brought to us without any family background,” said Beatrice Umurangwa, a nurse at the hospital. “Due to the mental challenges they experience, it is sometimes hard to trace their origins, especially when the patients are foreigners. So this kind of support is beneficial for their upkeep.”

The activity is part of the company’s campaign themed Transferring Happiness, in which staff of UAE Exchange Rwanda has already been involved in a nutrition project, visited orphans, and taken part in umuganda.
