Tigo Rwanda extends SIM card validity for prepaid customers

Tigo Rwanda has announced that it has extended SIM card validity for all prepaid customers from six months to two years.

Previously, Tigo customers had to reload any amount within six months to keep their SIM cards active. Now a reload of any amount extends the validity of a SIM card by two years.

“This new service is perfect for our customers who travel out of the country for long periods of time or students who go away to school for many months,” explained Yaw Ankoma Agyapong, Tigo Rwanda Chief Commercial Officer. “Now, their Tigo number remains theirs for good.  Furthermore, businesspeople, tourists, and others visiting Rwanda can now keep their Tigo number when they leave and use the same number whenever they visit the country again.”

In addition to the SIM card validity extension, Tigo is also introducing a ‘Welcome Back’ offer for customers who have not used their Tigo SIMs for at least 2 months. These customers can reload their old SIMs with any amount and receive an instant reward consisting of a 100% bonus of whatever amount is reloaded, 20 free minutes and 20 free SMS to call/message Tigo lines and 20 MB of data.
