BPR launches cash deposit campaign to boost savings culture

BPR’s acting CEO Eric Rutabana explains the ‘Hirwa Ugwize na BPR’ campaign.

Banque Populaire du Rwanda, or BPR AtlasMara in its official name, on Monday launched a deposit campaign called ‘Hirwa Ugwize na BPR’ with the aim of promoting a savings culture among BPR customers and the general public. 

“The promo will run for three months where BPR customers are required to deposit a minimum of Rwf 100,000 on their accounts and maintain it for three months starting on June 19,” explained BPR’s acting CEO Eric Rutabana.

Participants can win Rwf 8 million in cash, as well as other prizes which include smartphones with internet and voice subscription, water pumps, bicycles, fridges, and smart TVs.

During the campaign, people who deposit several times will be rewarded in a weekly and monthly raffle draws. Winners will be informed personally through phone calls and in announcements through media houses.

Throughout the campaign, there will be road shows with BPR’s brand ambassador Tom Close to educate the public on savings and financial literacy.
