10 days remaining for young tech entrepreneurs competition

As one of the most exciting sessions in the Transform Africa Summit in 2015, the Face the Gorillas returns to the summit in 2017 and will focus on budding entrepreneurs in the Smart Africa member states.

Face the Gorillas is a competition that provides a unique opportunity to young aspiring African entrepreneurs and young innovators to make a 5-minute pitch to a panel of renowned business moguls in front of a live audience, to stand a chance of accessing capital of up to $200,000 partnerships or mentorship.

Each finalist will have 20 minutes to make a deal with one or more panelist. Their pitch is followed by a live negotiation and audience participation.

Initiated by the ICT Chamber of the Private Sector federation (PSF), a partner of the Transform Africa Summit, the competition aims to reduce barriers to growth for privately owned businesses within the ICT sector. The deadline for applications is 24th March.

The eligibility criteria are the following:

  • A resident of a Smart Africa Member State i.e. Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Cotê D'Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan, Togo, Uganda
  • Technology or technology-enabled business
  • Beyond idea stage
  • Looking for capital
  • Below 35 years old
